Can attitude change everything?

I love this quote from Earl Nightingale: "Our attitude towards life determines life's attitude towards us..."

Have you ever felt worried or upset about something? Have you ever taken the time to notice the tension it creates in your whole body? What happens when you decide to close your eyes and choose a different picture. What if the cause of your angst or worry was resolved and removed, how would you feel? Much more relaxed, right? This is the power of the mind. You get to choose what you think. This is important because behind every thought, a feeling is generated, or rather a vibration and whatever vibration you send out (negative energy or positive energy) is what you are going to attract back into your life.

It is not easy, because we have been conditioned to live through our 5 senses and we tend to focus on what we experience as a result of outside circumstances in lieu of living from the inside out.

But our attitude is extremely powerful when it comes to improving our lives and changing our results. Maintaining the right attitude requires discipline as we must not let our five senses dictate our attitude. When we hear that the economy is not doing well or if we look at our current circumstances (may it be a bank balance, sales sheet, current position, etc.), we tend to then let that control our thoughts and feelings. But when we do that, we become the plaything for outside circumstances.

Thomas Jefferson stated “Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal, nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.” Attitude is the foundation of either failure or success. It is the difference between I can vs. I can’t.

Developing the right attitude means that you don’t have to accept any negative news that you hear, regardless of how real they may sound. The same occurs when someone tells you that something can’t be done because of a specific reason. It may be a valid reason, but nothing is impossible unless you accept it as such.

We make choices daily: We can let outside circumstances and problems control our thoughts, our feelings and our actions, or we can consciously choose a positive mental attitude regardless of circumstances. That means that regardless of what is going on, we choose to focus on the good (and sometimes you have to really look hard for it), we consciously choose to refocus on our goal, we shift our perspective on the situation to a different perspective… When we do that, we set ourselves up to attract what we want to create in lieu of recreating the same circumstances. With the right attitude we attract positive things into our lives. We also have to understand that there is an opportunity in every challenge we face and that those are meant to help us grow, find new solutions, become better versions of ourselves.

If you are wondering if you have the right attitude, then look at your expectations, especially when it comes to accomplishing the goals you set out for this year. What do you truly expect to happen? Do you expect something good? Do you truly expect to succeed? Or do you only hope you will… Hoping will not get you the results you want.

Another question you may want to ask yourself: Do your actions reflect that you have this positive expectant mental attitude? Or do they indicate worry, fear, doubt, etc… If they do, start expecting good things, start expecting the results you want. Work on your attitude daily and take control of your thoughts. Learn to expect the best before you see any sign of it. This is what attitude is about. You must act, think, and feel the way you would before your goal materializes into your life. You then become a magnet for your goal. I love how Earl Nightingtale says “before the metal can be cast into desired shape, the mold must be fashioned” and before you can live the life you want, you must first become that person.

So what’s your attitude today? Are you disappointed about certain results in your life? Are you willing to commit to changing your attitude and shift your thoughts to what you want regardless of current circumstances? Because if you do, you will start seeing the outside world change. When you change the inside, the outside changes – that’s what living inside out is all about.

I would love to hear about your journey and goals! Let’s talk!
