From Getting to Giving: A guide to True Success

For the majority of our lives, we are programmed to “get.”
Get good grades.Get into a good school.Get a job.Get promoted.Get clients.Get ahead.Get more.
Even when it comes to our biggest goals and dreams, most of the motivation centers around what we’re going to get — the income, the title, the recognition, the lifestyle or material possessions we desire.
It’s subtle. It’s normalized. And it’s reinforced constantly by the world around us. But what if this focus on getting is precisely what’s holding us back?
The Energetic Cost of “Getting”
Here’s what happens when our mindset is rooted in getting:
We become overly attached to outcomes.
We start measuring our worth by what we have (or don’t).
We operate from scarcity, because what we don’t have becomes more noticeable than what we do.
Relationships become transactional.
Even our best intentions can feel performative or forced.
When we start digging, we’ll notice that the most successful, fulfilled, and impactful people don’t lead with or focus on “What can I get?” They lead with “How can I serve?” “What can I give?”
When I let go of the “getting,” everything shifted.
The pressure, the “trying harder” patterns, the worries all dissipated.
When we shift into Giving, significant shifts occur as a byproduct – not because they are the goal:
We become a magnet for opportunities, connections, and abundance.
We stop chasing — and start attracting. There is more ease in our business.
We no longer hustle — we embody value and receive unexpected referrals
Relationships deepen, and we experience a stronger sense of purpose and joy.
This being said, giving doesn’t mean overextending or burning out. It’s about showing up from a place of alignment, authenticity, and generosity. Whether it’s your time, your ideas, your wisdom, or your presence — when you lead with giving, success and fulfillment are natural by-products. Why? Because the universe responds to our real intentions…
Next time you find yourself striving, chasing, or feeling stuck, ask yourself:
“Am I focused on what I can get, or what I can give?”
This simple question can shift your entire trajectory — in business and in life. As when you lead with giving, success naturally follows.
